Apologies, y’all: I’ve been so busy with all these other writing projects that I’ve neglected to keep updating the blog with new chapters of Going Aloft. Really, it’s a good problem to have.
Chapter 18 sketches a pivotal moment in the incredibly-messy-yet-passionate love story between the Writer and the Artist, and is an experimental attempt by me to pen dialogue- something I was never really good at, and am still not very good at now, although perhaps I have gotten marginally better through practice. That’s part of the reason I wanted to do it for this chapter- to give myself an opportunity to practice. Originally I wanted this chapter to be entirely dialogue (like with no tags or anything, almost like a play script) but early drafts made no sense to anyone who wasn’t there on the beach (and even to some who were), so I decided to compromise.
Read it here. Enjoy!
